During the Week 2 Cartography Lab Exercise, I experienced some unanticipated challenges! As someone is considered "computer/tech savvy", I thought that I could breeze through this lab like I did the Week 1 Lab! In reality, it took me much longer than the recommended 4 hours to complete this lab. Many of the mistakes that I made this week were simple ones. I would try to skip a step or overlook one unintentionally. At times, I felt like I was just fumbling around trying to figure things out! I do know that working with ArcGIS will get easier, though! All of the practice we are getting by completing the labs will eventually help me understand how to design maps more quickly. Thankfully, I do retain concepts well when I make mistakes and figure out how to fix them on my own!The biggest lesson I learned this week was to take a break when I'm making the same mistakes over and over. Also, I saved several versions of the project as I went along so that I did not have to start all over if I made an irreversible mistake!
I am proud of how my first map turned out!
